I got this recipe from a family I used to nanny for. It’s great for paddle camping trips or car camping, since it makes a pretty big mess.

What you need:

a pot
gruyere cheese (half a pound, shredded)
swiss cheese (half a pound, shredded)
beer (cheap is best)

How you do it:

Pre-shred the cheese, and coat with cornstarch put in zip lock bags
Rub the pot with the garlic
Turn on the heat (can do over a stove, or on the coals)
add gruyere, swiss, beer.

Stir constantly, and enjoy with sliced apples and/or bread.
